I don’t want to see in this particular new year. I don’t want to see in between the shadows that divide today and tomorrow, us and them. I don’t want to see in- surrection relabeled as free and peaceful speech. I don’t want to see in- difference mistaken for introspection. I don’t want to see in- sight derided as weakness. I don’t want to see in- eptness considered a requisite for a fresh perspective. I don’t want to see in- humanity codified into law. I don’t want to see in- justices marked as “Must-See” stops on the map of success. I don’t want to see in- tersections that force me to choose one direction over all the others. I don’t want to see in- cisions criss-crossing my wrist like little roads that lead invariably to a place I have dreaded all my life and a place these days I find myself sometimes longing for.
